10 Things I Love About: Yoga!

My first post not about baking, what a change of pace! I started trying yoga way back in middle school. I want to say that it was because my girl scout troop was doing some health thing for a badge and I thought yoga was interesting. Or maybe it was because I took dance classes at our local park district and I saw people with yoga mats enter in after our class ended and I wanted to try it. I got a mat but no real instruction because it's hard to learn from a video. I then took group exercise as a gym elective my senior year in high school and we got to do yoga, zumba, pilates, and other stuff in that class. I started to re-gain interest in yoga and looked forward to Friday gym classes because the gym teacher had us do yoga for the day. Let me tell you, it was a great way to unwind from the week. When I went away to college, I wanted to take yoga classes but I ran into a dilemma. The campus recreation center at Illinois State was off campus and you had to pay money for a membership....

10 Things I Like About: Cupcakes!

Hello Readers! This post is about some cupcakes I baked a few days ago. Cupcakes are very popular especially with TV shows like Cupcake Wars and popular cupcake bakeries like Sprinkles, Georgetown Cupcakes, etc. I love making cupcakes because it's a more personalized size for people to eat. I made these because there were two of my co-workers who were going to leave the store and I wanted to send them off with a little good bye gift. One wanted chocolate and the other wanted vanilla cupcakes. I found this recipe about spending a countless amount of time on Google and found it on Pinterest instead. I wanted something quick and easy and not complicated. It's very simple and doesn't require a lot of work. What was nice about it was that I could use it to make the vanilla AND the chocolate cupcakes. 10 Things I Like About: Brownies

My next post about baking again, what a surprise! Hi everyone, hope you enjoyed the post about coffee cake. Your sweet tooth is in for a treat with my next post about brownies! Now who doesn't love brownies, unless you don't like chocolate then I assumed you don't but brownies are what I like to think are a people pleaser when it comes to dessert since almost everyone makes cookies all the time brownies are a fresh idea. I got the idea because at work, I've become accustomed to making a baked good for my co-workers for their birthdays. A few months ago, I know when of my co-workers told me she loved brownies and she kind of hinted at that as her birthday treat. Another new-ish face to the store told me he liked brownies as well and their birthdays are a few days apart so why not kill two birds with one stone and make brownies for the both of them. Actually his birthday was yesterdays and her's is tomorrow! I looked on Pinterest because that website never seems to fa...

10 Things I Like About: Coffee Cake

First post on this blog about baking! I love baking and all my family and friends and co-workers can attest to that. Sometimes when I open at work, I'll bring a breakfast item to share with people cause it's become a thing that we've done. I brought a low calorie coffee cake since one of the people I work with is on a diet and I said I would make a low calorie coffee cake so that he can eat it with us. I found this recipe for a low calorie coffee cake and thought I would give it a go! Recipe can be found here: Skinny Coffee Cake DISCLAIMER : I have no training or background in culinary/baking/pastry at all so I am not an expert and am not claiming that I am an expert. I made the coffee cake no problem and instead of baking it in a loaf pan, I baked it in a muffin pan to make it easier to portion and so that I didn't have to cut it later on. I made a mistake when I was baking it and instead of putting in 1/3 cup of applesauce like I was suppose to, I put in 2/3. I ...
