Baking and cooking has been a true joy for me, but I lean more towards the baking side than cooking. I used to always want to get the pre-packaged bagged desserts from the store and add the egg, oil, and water to make cookies, cupcakes, etc.
Then in sixth grade, we were learning about fractions. I remember my sixth grade math teacher offering up extra credit to us if we brought in cookies for the class and the recipe and could show her how to make half the recipe, double the recipe, etc based on fractions. Looking back now, that was an ingenious way to get your students to bring cookies to class everyday since our math class was right after we had lunch. It was a pain in the butt for me honestly because of course I had to make it with my mom and of course we argued and butt heads for something as simple as a chocolate chip cookie recipe.
From then on, I became intrigued and wanted to continue learning how to make desserts from scratch. I was not the best at all and somethings did not turn out well (i.e. burnt) I had fun and began to love to do it. I wanted to explore other desserts and sweet treats passed the simple cookie and cake recipe. I am hoping to at least "master" or "perfect" a recipe in each dessert category so following along on my adventures in doing so!
